Restorative Dentistry

Blanding Dental Associates proudly offers a full range of restorative dentistry services by a Navy-trained Board-Certified Prosthodontist. Unlike a general dentist, a Prosthodontist specializes in treating dental and facial conditions that require restoring missing teeth and jaw structures. Essentially, prosthodontists have advanced training in restoring and replacing teeth and are THE recognized experts when anything needs to be replaced in your mouth. This can range from a single tooth, multiple teeth, or all teeth and gums in the mouth. While other dentists can do some of these treatments, prosthodontists are the only dental specialists dedicated to this type of care. A prosthodontist is highly trained in cosmetics, dental implants, crowns, bridges, dentures, temporomandibular disorders (TMJ/TMD), and more. Prosthodontists are considered the leaders of the dental treatment plan and regularly lead teams of general dentists, specialists, and other health professionals to develop solutions for your dental needs.

All-ceramic crowns (i.e. Porcelain Crowns)

Getting porcelain crowns is the best way to have a very natural looking smile. They are used when simply filling in a tooth is not an option. There are times when they decay is so bad that we just have to use a porcelain crown. We also use them with severely damaged teeth or teeth that have already had multiple fillings. Porcelain crowns are attached right to your teeth so that they can function, even when you bite something really hard! There are several types of porcelain crowns so it is important to discuss which type is best for you with your dentist.

Bridges

When your teeth are missing, it greatly affects your smile. At the same time, the missing tooth has the potential to negatively affect your oral hygiene because of unprotected gum exposure. Dental bridges are one of many options aimed at improving the appearance and function of your teeth by replacing the missing tooth or teeth. During your exam, we will discuss whether or not dental bridges are right for you.

Dental Implants

When you have missing teeth, an alternative solution to dentures is dental implants. While dentures are removable, dental implants provide permanent new teeth to restore your mouth’s function and appearance. Dental implants tend to offer a successful and lasting solution to the loss of some or all of your teeth.

Implant Restoration

At Blanding Dental Associates, we provide implant restoration services when they’re necessary. Our staff knows the signs of implant problems, and we are committed to checking them each time we see you. During visits after having implants put in, we assess your gums, bone density and any part that’s connected to the implant. These checks are in an effort to keep you healthy and catch any problems with the implants.

When you receive implants, we will guide you on how best to take care of them. This will help you minimize problems and be aware if any present themselves. If you think there is an issue with your current implants, please let us know so we can check them.

At Blanding Dental Associates, we follow our ethical way of doing business when we approach implant restoration. This means that we put your health and well-being first. We always check your implants after we fit them, and we give you the information you need about your oral health and treatments.

Inlays and Onlays

Dental inlays and onlays are considered a conservative method of treating damaged teeth. They are used instead of placing a crown. Some dentists even use inlays and onlays to treat tooth decay. Instead of filling in the tooth, your dentist may use dental inlays and onlays.

Dental inlays and onlays are made in a dental lab and then fitted to your tooth. They are then bonded to your tooth.

Dentures

If you are missing teeth, dentures can provide a positive solution to improving your oral health. We are proud to provide dentures that are designed to fit your mouth for proper function and unique comfort. Following your appointment, we will provide you with information on at-home care for your dentures. We strongly recommend scheduling follow up appointments for periodic denture cleanings.

Denture Partials

A removable partial denture is an optimal solution for patients who may be missing one or more teeth in a particular area of their mouth. Removable partial dentures are attached to a gum-colored base which may have a metal framework that helps to hold it in place against the surrounding teeth. These dentures serve to replace missing teeth, restore functionality, and generally improve oral health. When a tooth is lost, and the gap isn’t immediately filled, it can lead to the neighboring teeth to shift; this can create a significant change in your bite and can even cause long-term damage to your gums and jaw bone.
